HERITAGE
INFORMATION
SOURCES

The CIBSE Heritage Group researches the history of building engineering services both in general terms and in specific buildings. Sometimes records about a particular building exist, but rarely on the services. Therefore, in addition to its own findings and photographs, the Group looks at a variety of sources of published information to build up as complete an overall picture as possible.

It looks at publications on engineering services (often dating from Victorian and Edwardian times) as well as books on buildings, architects, social history, catalogues and histories of firms in the building engineering services industry, the industry's pioneers and so on. This section of the Heritage Group website displays the front covers of just a few of the books used for this purpose, which will indicate to other researchers the opportunities that exist to seek out Heritage information.
